Objectives of Education Services Union The Education Services Union is setup for union members in the Education Services Sector. The principal objectives of Education Services Union are: - to promote good industrial relations between members and their employers;
- to improve the working conditions of members or enhance their economic and social status;
- to achieve the raising of productivity for the benefit of members, their employers and the economy of Singapore.
Other objectives of Education Services Union are: - to secure the complete representation and effective organisation of all persons who are eligible to be members of the Union ;
- to establish and operate such scheme or fund to provide members with such other benefits as the Executive Council may deem necessary and expedient;
- to operate or participate in such co-operative or other scheme or enterprise as the Executive Council may deem necessary and expedient for the benefit of members, subject to the statutory restrictions on the investment of union funds;
- to affiliate with and/or to further the work of or objective of the Singapore National Trades Union Congress and the Singapore Labour Foundation and any other national or international organisation having for its objectives the promotion of the interest of labour, trade unions, and trade unionists and/or the welfare of workers subject to the statutory restrictions on the use of union funds;
- to provide legal advice and assistance to members where necessary in connection with their employment;
- to promote the welfare and well-being, either collectively or individually, of members, their dependants and/or such other persons in the community as the Executive Council deems in its absolute discretion to need charitable assistance in any manner;
- to participate in such schemes as may be established from time to time among the unions affiliated to NTUC which provide for the transferability of members among them; and
- to promote generally the material, social, cultural, recreational, educational, welfare and interest of members and to do all things as may be necessary, incidental or conducive to the attainment of any of these objects.
